Skids & Centralizes
Skids & Centralizes play a critical role in maintaining nozzle position within a pipe. As pipe diameters increase,
skids elevate and position nozzle closer to the center of the pipe for more even pipe wall cleaning. Skids are
designed and manufactured to be smaller than the pipe to be used in. This equalizes the distances from the nozzle
orifices to all parts of the pipe wall, more effectively cleaning the crown of the pipe.
Skids combined with the use of Rotary Chain Flail nozzles maintains the chain flail close to the center of the pipe
and reduces drag on the bearing of the Rotary Chain Flail. Skids help to reduce the wobbling effects created when debris
becomes entangled within the chain to cause an unbalanced (wobbling) spinning effect. on the nozzle.
Skids passing through or if prevented from passing through a pipeline can indicate the presence of collapsed pipe or some
other type of obstruction.

All skids require the use of an appropriate length Drain Jet Extension to be used correctly. When properly installed
through the center of the skid, the Drain Jet Extension allows for a minimal amount of sliding slack movement. This
small amount of slack will allow for a hammering action to free a wedged or stuck skid in a pipe.

stable within large diameter pipes. Elevation of the Chain Flail Nozzle reduces bearing drag for optimum rotation speed.
